The structure of the roof prism is that a standard Amici roof prism, much like a right-angled prism that has been "shaved"—its beveled edge is replaced by a protruding 90° roof ridge. By redirecting light by 90° and completely correcting the upside-down and left-right image, it keeps the objective and eyepiece aligned, thus making the entire optical system more compact.
