Dove prism is a prism that looks like a right-angle prism with its apex shaved off. When you rotate the prism itself, the image seen through it rotates at twice the speed. Therefore, it allows for precise control over the orientation of the beam or image. For optimal performance, a Dove prism must be used with collimated (parallel) light. Using it with non-parallel light will introduce aberrations.
