Types and applications of optical reticle plates

Table of Content [Hide]

A reticle is an auxiliary tool used for measuring and dividing optical instruments. It is usually made of transparent materials and has scales and markings to help people precisely adjust and calibrate optical instruments. The main principle is based on the interference and diffraction phenomena of light. When light passes through the reticle, interference and diffraction occur, forming bright and dark fringes. The spacing and shape of these fringes can provide important information about the performance of optical instruments.

    I. Main Classifications

Mark the shapes according to the lines

    1. Cross dial: Used for aiming or center alignment, such as telescopes and gun sights.

    2. Cross-shaped reticle: Multi-line assistance, suitable for complex measurement scenarios.

    3. Circular/annular reticent: Commonly used for Angle measurement or concentric circle calibration.

    4. Scale divider: A linear or curved scale with a ruler, used for precise measurement.

According to the light transmission of the pattern

    1. Positive pattern: The chromium film coating forms an opaque line marking, which is used for front lighting.

    2. Negative pattern: Light-transmitting dividing line, suitable for backlighting or high-brightness illumination.

    By material and process

    1. Glass substrate: mainly ultraviolet fused quartz, with high light transmittance and wear resistance.

    2. Metal/plastic substrate: Used in special scenarios, such as low-cost teaching tools

    II. Typical Applications

    Measurement and Calibration

It serves as an imaging reference in microscopes and telescopes,The eyepiece reticle is used for the calibration of the flexion cursor of the focal length meter lens

    Industrial inspection

It is used for wafer and reticular inspection in semiconductor manufacturing, as well as beam alignment and spatial filtering in optical equipment.

    Military and scientific research

Crosshair positioning of gun sights and optical calibration in the aerospace field.
