Classification of Optical Glass

High surface accuracy optical components supplier will introduce the classification of Optical glass to you:

Colorless optical glass

There are special requirements for optical constants, with high visibility, no selective absorption, and coloring. According to the size of the abbe number is divided into corona class and flint class of glass, and each type is divided into several kinds according to the refractive index, and according to the refractive index size in turn. optical glass cylinder lenses, prisms, reflectors, etc. are used for telescopes, microscopes, cameras, etc.

Irradiated optical glass

There are high lead glass and CaO-B2O2 system glass, the former can prevent radiation and X-ray radiation, the latter can absorb slow neutrons and thermal neutrons, mainly used in the nuclear industry, medical field as shielding and peep window materials.

Irradiated optical glass

Under certain light rays and X-ray irradiation, the transmittance of the visible area changes little, and the species and brand are the same as colorless optical glass, which is used for making optical instruments and optical glass square windows under high energy irradiation.

Coloured optical glass

Also called filter glass. It has selective absorption and transmissibility for specific wavelengths in ultraviolet, visible and infrared regions, and can be divided into selective absorption type, cut-off type, and neutral gray type according to spectral characteristics. According to the coloring mechanism, it can be divided into three categories: ion coloring, metal colloid coloring, and sulfur selenide coloring.

Ultraviolet and infrared optical glass

In the ultraviolet or infrared band has a specific optical constant and high transmittance, used as ultraviolet or infrared optical instruments or as a window material.

Optical quartz glass

With silica as the main component, it has the characteristics of high-temperature resistance, low expansion coefficient, high mechanical strength, and good chemical properties, etc. It is used for manufacturing prisms, lenses, windows, and reflectors with special requirements for various wavebands. In addition, there are large scale integrated circuits for the manufacture of optical mask plate, liquid crystal display panel, image disc disc-based thin plate glass; Magneto-optical glass in which the plane of polarization rotates when light passes through the glass in the direction of magnetic field lines. When light passes through the glass transmitting ultrasonic wave in a certain direction, light diffraction, reflection, convergence, or light frequency shift occurs.

Classification of dispersion

(1)According to the dispersion is divided into two categories: the dispersion is small for the crown class (K), the dispersion is large for the flint class (F).

Corona optical glass is divided into fluorine (FK), light (QK), phosphorus (PK), heavy phosphorus (ZPK), corona (K), heavy (ZK), barium (BaK), lanthanum (Lak), titanium (TiK) and special (TK).

(2)firestone optical glass is divided into light flint (QF), flint (F), heavy flint (ZF), barium flint (BaF), heavy barium flint (ZBaF), lanthanum flint (LaF), heavy lanthanum flint (ZLaF), titanium flint (TiF), coronal flint (KF) and special flint (TF).
