What is the Penta Prism?

1. Introduction to penta prism

The penta prism uses the reflection of the two surfaces to deflect the beam by 90° while maintaining the parity of the image. The deviation of the beam does not change the slight rotation of the prism, so it is useful for applications that require strict alignment. Alternative prism configurations include roof pentagons that reverse the parity of the image and half pentagons that deviate the light by 45°. Penta prisms are commonly used in image mounting components and as laser insertion prisms for advanced surveillance and ranging applications.

Usually aluminum, silver and gold mirror coatings and epoxy protective paint are used on the two reflective surfaces of the penta prism. In addition, the 22.5° incident angle of the reflective surface is very suitable for dielectric high-reflection mirrors and dichroic beamsplitter coatings that work under wide cone angles.

2. BRO Optical's penta prism

We are pleased to provide you with a diverse selection of standard and custom pentaprism configurations, which have excellent beam alignment, image clarity and appearance quality. Laser/broadband anti-reflective coatings can be used on the entrance/exit surface, and protected metals and customized dielectric coatings can be used on the reflective surface. Penta prisms can also be glued together with wedge prisms or other components to create optical components. A professional lens and prism manufacturer, which can be customized according to user needs.

With our state-of-the-art measurement equipment and custom tools, the pentaprism can accurately measure the accuracy of the 90° azimuth beam deviation. Our high-end goniometer supports advanced modern detection technology. Our laser interferometer combined with precise customized optical and mechanical fixtures can achieve the highest resolution pentaprism measurement with an accuracy close to 0.5 arc second.
